In January of 2011, on the steps of the State Capitol, Kansas officially kicked off a celebration of 150 years of statehood. That’s where our season begins. The momentum never stopped in 2011. We had a chance to visit many more gatherings, parades, historical discussions, dances and community projects across the state that reflected back to the significance of the sesquicentennial. The season ends with a story set in Wichita, KS, where a late fall event, called the “Sunflower Parade” attracted participants from all over the state.
